Lucy Lang, MSW, LCSWALicensed Clinical Social Worker AssociateShe/Her/Hers

Hi everyone! I’m Lucy, a Licensed Clinical Social Work Associate in the state of North Carolina. I provide affirming, supportive, and person-centered therapy to teens and adults (ages 14+).  As a therapist, I have supported clients through their journeys with various challenges, including depression, anxiety, loneliness, academic stress, work-related stress, trauma, adjustment issues, relationship issues, and interpersonal problems.

I believe that creating a safe, nonjudgmental, respectful, trusting environment is essential in therapy. This means that when you come to therapy, I see you as your own expert, and we talk about what’s important to you. It also means that I’m open with you if you have questions about me. I accompany clients and act as a guide, a facilitator, and a teacher of self-regulation skills as you walk through your mental health journey toward your goals.

My past experiences as a therapist have brought me to a variety of settings, including a specialized school, public middle school, university counseling center, experiential learning program, and private practice. I have worked with people identifying with many different genders, sexualities, races, ethnicities, mental and physical abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. It’s very important to me that all identities are welcome and valued in my practice. My professional interests center on working with and advocating for members of the LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse communities.

I completed my Master of Social Work with a concentration in clinical practice with children, youth, and families from Boston College in June of 2022. Since then, I have also completed my Equine-Assisted Mental Health Practitioner Certificate through the University of Denver School of Social Work. I do not currently include animal interactions in my therapy practice.

Outside of my work as a therapist, I am an adaptive or “therapeutic” horsemanship instructor. I teach horseback riding and horse care skills to individuals who may not otherwise get access to relationships with these amazing animals. I also love cuddling with my adorable Siberian cat Azula, running, quilting, and spending time with my family. I look forward to learning about you and supporting you toward your goals!
